Allow us to present Burger Bar, the much-anticipated build-your-own burger joint from Fleur de Lys chef Hubert Keller nestled on the sixth floor of Macy's in Union Square, opening Friday.

Don't let the department store entrance off Geary (nor the fact that the space once housed Macy's bridal registry) deter you. Just ride the elevator to the sixth floor, make a beeline into the restaurant and grab a booth with a tableside flat-screen and bird's-eye Union Square views. (Urban Daddy)

Grant helps Oakland catch ride to bus shuttle
The City of Oakland has secured $1 million in funding to jumpstart a shuttle service between Uptown and Jack London Square — two vital and emerging neighborhoods where new restaurants, galleries and offices are opening. (SF Business Times)

Taste of Temescal Rescheduled
With the weather forecast predicting heavy rain and winds, the Taste of Temescal has been pushed out by a week to Tuesday, October 20. But other than the date, everything else stays the same. The brainchild of the executive director of the Temescal Telegraph Business Improvement District, Darlene Rios Drapkin, the event should be a foodie’s delight. The restaurants on Telegraph between 40 and 51st streets will be giving out “tastings,” there will be a raffle which promises, amongst other things, $100 gift certificates to a restaurant of the winner’s choice, and there will be music from different parts of the world. Today, Directed Electronics, who make the popular Viper remote start systems, are taking remote-start one-step further: start your car with your iPhone. The Viper SmartStart system combines the Viper system with an iPhone app that acts as a remote control for your car. (Mashable)
